Agreement & Regulations

In consideration of admission to Jellinek Society Recovery House residents agree to be governed by the following regulations and requirements:

1.      To stay at Jellinek Recovery House for a minimum of three months; I understand that a longer stay is encouraged by the Jellinek Society and that the recommended stay is one year.

2.      Any use of alcohol or drugs will result in immediate termination of residence as there is zero tolerance for alcohol/drug use and/or to be in possession of any alcohol/drug paraphernalia.

3.      Failure to disclose criminal charges and probationary standings is grounds for termination of residency.

4.      Any violence, direct or indirect threats, any form of abuse, discriminatory statements or other racial hate behaviours, sexual comments or sexual innuendos directed towards staff, residents, visitors or the general public are grounds for disciplinary action, charges, and/or immediate termination of residency as determined by the Jellinek Society or its representatives.

5.      To conduct myself in a mature and responsible manner, remembering that what I do, do not do, say or do not say, affects others in and out of the Recovery House as well as the atmosphere of the Recovery House.

6.      Any prescribed medication will be discussed with the Executive Director, or the Resident Manager (also known as the Houseman), prior to obtaining, or at minimum, prior to beginning such medication. Such Jellinek Society representatives may require medication to be supervised in its administration as deemed necessary by the discretion of the aforementioned Society representatives.

7.      My first financial obligation is to residency fees. This fee takes precedence over all other debts and bills I may have and payment will be made on or before the first day of each month and upon first moving into the House.

8.      It is understood that I will make every effort to find employment and become employed within a practical timeframe, not refusing any reasonable offer because of pay negotiated, or I will become enrolled in an educational institution to further advance my career options.

9.      I will be up, shaved, showered, have my bed made and be downstairs by 7:30am Monday through Friday; and will have breakfast and have clean-up completed by 8:00am. I agree to cooperate with other residents in preparing and cleaning up after meals on weekends and holidays. I will appear for all meals with myself and my clothing in a clean and presentable manner. There will be no hats worn or electronic devices utilized while seated at the table.

10.  I will keep my quarter’s clean and organized at all times, read the duty roster, and properly do all assigned tasks assigned to me. I understand that there is no smoking permitted anywhere inside Jellinek Recovery House, on the porch or balconies.

11.  I will adhere to the curfew times of 11:30pm Sunday through Thursday and 2:00am Friday and Saturday. I understand that the TV is to be off at curfew. I further understand that overnight passes, or curfew extensions, require staff approval (normally three days in advance).

12.  At the discretion of the Executive Director, or a designate, that I will attend any AHS – Addiction and Mental Health, or other agency referral, appointments for counselling as advised.

13.  It is agreed that I will attend the House Meeting, the Sunrise AA Meeting each Wednesday evening, as well as the Sunday Big Book Study, and a minimum of two other outside AA, NA, or CA meetings each week.

14.  I will attend all Jellinek Recovery House activities as scheduled by the Executive Director or another designate.

15.  I will obtain, and attend, a Home Group within the fellowship of my choice, get a sponsor within the same fellowship, and begin engaging in the Step Work of that fellowship within 30 days of residency. I will inform the Executive Director upon completing these tasks.

16.  Each Sunday I will either attend a church of my choosing and/or attend a 12 Step Meeting.

17.  I will provide a minimum of one month’s notice of my intention to move from Jellinek recovery House.

18.  If residency terminates for any reason other than when one month’s notice is provided, there will be no reimbursement of residency fees.

19.  I understand that should my residency terminate at Jellinek Recovery House, either intentionally or otherwise, that all personal belongings will be removed by me within 30 days of end of residency and that any such belongings not removed after 30 days will be disposed of as determined by the Jellinek Society and that I will not pursue any legal recourse or seek compensation for such disposals.

20.  I understand that I will be held liable for any legal proceedings against me for any unpaid amounts owed to Jellinek Society, or the Jellinek Recovery House, following my departure from the Jellinek Recovery House should such legal action be pursued by the Jellinek Society.
